Local TTS Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the developer and operator of Local TTS ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Local TTS Android app, package name com.kaadan.localtts, or contact support. Our privacy contact is pjake6763@gmail.com.
1. What stays on your device
Local TTS is a document and text-to-speech reader. Document extraction, optical character recognition (OCR), language identification, and speech generation run on your device. You do not need to create a Local TTS account.
The app accesses content you choose to import, scan, type, paste, or share into it. This may include documents, ebooks, notes, Markdown, text files, photos, and camera images. It stores extracted text, document titles and authors, thumbnails, detected languages, tags, favorites, bookmarks, reading positions, voice selections, pronunciation replacements, and reader settings in local app storage. Temporary files and generated speech may be cached to support importing and playback.
We do not upload your document text, notes, photos, camera images, or generated speech to our servers, RevenueCat, or a cloud speech service. We do not use this content to train cloud AI models. The developer cannot remotely access or recover your local library.
On-device content processing does not mean every feature is disconnected from the internet. Subscription services and third-party SDK telemetry are described below.
2. Purchases and subscription information
Local TTS integrates Google Play Billing and RevenueCat to offer, validate, restore, and manage Pro subscriptions when available. Opening the subscription screen can initialize RevenueCat and contact its services even if you do not complete a purchase. Internet access is needed for these services.
RevenueCat assigns a randomly generated app-user identifier to associate subscription records with an app installation. This identifier does not require a Local TTS login or your name or email, but records associated with it are not fully anonymized. The services may process purchase tokens, product and plan identifiers, transaction dates, prices and currencies, subscription status, and technical information such as app and SDK versions, operating system, and locale. Network services receive connection information such as an IP address when handling requests.
We use subscription information to determine access, restore purchases, respond to billing questions, and understand subscription performance. RevenueCat provides subscription reporting on our behalf. We do not send your document content to RevenueCat or configure advertising attribution in the app.
Google Play handles payment details. Local TTS does not receive your full payment-card number, card security code, banking credentials, or Google password. Google independently handles information used by its store and payment services.
See RevenueCat's privacy information, RevenueCat's Data Processing Addendum, and Google's Privacy Policy.
3. OCR and language-detection diagnostics
Local TTS uses Google's bundled ML Kit SDKs for OCR and language identification. These features process your images and text locally. Google documents collection of technical telemetry when a connection is available: device and app versions, installation identifiers, processing times, error codes, feature events, input/output sizes, configuration details, and detected language codes. Google uses it for diagnostics and usage analytics. This is separate from uploading your document or image content. Local TTS currently has no in-app switch for this SDK telemetry.
Details are available in Google's ML Kit data disclosure and Google's Privacy Policy.
4. Information you send to support
If you email pjake6763@gmail.com, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments or information you choose to provide. We use this information to answer questions, investigate problems, and handle privacy or purchase requests. Support correspondence is handled through Google's email service.
Please avoid sending confidential documents or unnecessary personal information. You can describe a problem or provide a short, redacted example instead. We do not need your passwords or complete payment-card details to provide support.
5. Device access and system features
- Documents and photos: Android's picker provides access to files you select. Local TTS does not scan your entire device library. A file provider you choose may have its own network or cloud behavior.
- Camera: Scanning opens your device's camera app when you choose to take a photo. Local TTS receives the resulting image for local OCR. The camera app's own storage and backup settings apply to copies it retains.
- Clipboard: Local TTS reads clipboard content when you choose to paste. It does not continuously monitor the clipboard in the background.
- Playback and notifications: Android media services support background playback, audio output, notification controls, and lock-screen controls. Document titles or playback details may be visible on your lock screen or connected media devices according to your system settings.
- Network access: Used by the subscription services and SDK telemetry described in this policy. Speech synthesis and document processing do not require sending content to a server.
Local TTS does not request microphone recording, contacts, SMS, or location permissions. It generates speech from text rather than recording your voice. You can manage available permissions and notification visibility through Android settings.
6. Service providers and disclosures
Google and RevenueCat receive the information described above to operate their services. Their infrastructure providers may process information as necessary to deliver those services. We use Google's email service for support. We do not sell personal information, provide it to advertising networks, or use it for targeted advertising. Local TTS does not display third-party advertisements.
We may disclose information we hold if legally required, to respond to a valid legal request, or where necessary to investigate fraud, protect security, or establish or defend legal rights. Such disclosures do not give us access to documents stored only on your device.
External links open services with their own privacy practices. Information you choose to provide directly to those services is also subject to their policies.
7. Retention and deletion
Local content: Your library and settings remain in app storage until you remove them or clear the app's data. Moving an item to Trash allows restoration and does not immediately delete it. Permanently deleting it from Trash removes its library record and associated app thumbnail. Temporary scan files or cached speech can remain until the cache is cleared or cleaned up; permanent deletion is not a guarantee of forensic erasure. Removing an imported item does not delete the original file in another folder or service.
You can remove the app's local data using Android's app settings or by uninstalling Local TTS. Android's clear-cache option removes cached files without intentionally deleting the library. We disable Android app backup and device-transfer backup for Local TTS data. Copies held by a camera app, file provider, device manufacturer, or other service are governed by that service's settings and policies.
Subscription records: These are retained as necessary to administer subscriptions, support restoration, resolve disputes, and meet applicable accounting, security, or legal obligations. Uninstalling Local TTS does not automatically erase records held by Google Play or RevenueCat and does not cancel a subscription.
Support correspondence: We retain messages while needed to resolve the request and related follow-up, and for any applicable legal or dispute-resolution requirements. You may request deletion when you no longer need support.
To request access to or deletion of information we hold, email pjake6763@gmail.com with the subject Local TTS privacy request. Tell us what you want deleted. For purchase records, you may include a Google Play order reference so we can locate the relevant record. We may ask for limited additional information to verify your request; do not send your Google password or card details. We will handle requests within the period required by applicable law and explain any information that must be retained and why. Where applicable, we will instruct RevenueCat to delete records processed on our behalf. Google independently controls certain store and payment records; you can also use Google's privacy controls.
Deleting subscription records can affect our ability to restore or verify access. To stop future subscription charges, cancel through Google Play's subscription controls; a privacy request or uninstall alone does not cancel billing.
8. Security
Local content is stored in Android app storage and benefits from your device's access controls. Protect your device with a screen lock and keep its software updated. Local TTS does not add a separate password-protected vault or its own encryption layer to library files.
RevenueCat and ML Kit document encrypted transmission using TLS or HTTPS. The app does not permit cleartext HTTP traffic. These safeguards reduce risk but cannot guarantee absolute security, particularly on compromised devices or where you intentionally share content with another service.
9. International processing and your rights
Service-provider processing may occur outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, applicable safeguards such as contractual protections govern these transfers. RevenueCat describes its processing arrangements and subprocessors in its Data Processing Addendum; Google's policies describe its international processing.
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary to provide requested services, for legitimate interests such as service reliability and support where permitted, to comply with legal obligations, or with consent where required. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting prior lawful processing.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; and complain to your local data protection authority. Contact pjake6763@gmail.com to exercise these rights. We do not discriminate against users for making a privacy request. Some information may be retained where law permits or requires it, and we cannot supply device-only documents that we never received.
10. Children's privacy
Local TTS is intended for people aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. The app does not ask users to create an account or provide their age. It does not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13. Users who are minors should ask a parent or guardian before making a purchase or sending personal information to support. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us through support or another connected service, contact pjake6763@gmail.com so we can investigate and take appropriate steps, including deletion where required. Content that remains only on a device is not available for us to identify remotely. Age-related requirements may vary by country, and we will follow applicable law where it requires additional protection for minors.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the app, its services, or applicable requirements change. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice or obtain consent where required for material changes. The policy is available through the app's Privacy option.
